Series of engaging events set to celebrate Black History Month

海角乱伦社区 University will host a series of engaging and creative events celebrating Black History Month throughout February.
Programming for Black History Month is coordinated through the Multicultural & Student Activities Council and Black Students for Unity said Jessica Hubert, assistant director for Leadership & Belonging | Campus Involvement Center, who is overseeing the series.
BSU is organizing Spirit Week Feb. 3-7, which includes an assortment of engaging student-oriented activities. In addition, several organized events are scheduled. They include:
Saturday, Feb. 8, 7:30 p.m., Student Union Great Room: 鈥淐olors of Freedom Paint Night,鈥 hosted by the Multicultural & Student Activities Council and Black Students for Unity, welcomes students to a relaxing paint-by-numbers experience featuring historical Black figures. Participants will learn about their lasting impact and importance.
Friday, Feb. 14, 6 p.m., Multicultural Student Lounge: 鈥淪ip & Paint,鈥 hosted by Black Students for Unity, features canvas art created by a local鈥痑rtist depicting images of Black excellence and culture for participants to paint. There will also be mocktails for participants to enjoy.
Thursday, Feb. 20, Grotto Commons and 501 Grille: 鈥淪oul Food Lunch,鈥 sponsored by Parkhurst Dining and Multicultural Student Services.
Friday, Feb. 21, 6 p.m., Multicultural Student Lounge: 鈥淏ingo Night,鈥 sponsored by Black Students for Unity.
Friday, Feb. 28, 6 p.m., Multicultural Student Lounge: 鈥淪oul Food Night,鈥 sponsored by Black Students for Unity.
Although the aforementioned events are for the 海角乱伦社区 community, there is a musical offering that is free and open to the public.
Monday, Feb. 24, 8 p.m., Walker Recital Hall: Michael Clark, guest pianist, provides a lecture and recital on the 鈥淧iano Music of Florence Price,鈥 sponsored by the D'Angelo Department of Music and Multicultural Student Services.
